You can see that we have plenty of showers and storms moving across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida. Driving is tough right now along I-65 across the region as blinding rain continues along much of the interstate corridor.

The main line of storms you see that’s moving across Escambia (AL), northern Escambia (FL), Baldwin, and Mobile counties is slowly sliding southeastward. Again, VERY heavy rain involved with this, thus driving is discouraged.

Main concerns over the next few hours will be heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding across the area and intense lightning…

Significant lightning output is being observed in the thunderstorms near Lyeffion, Bowles, and Owassa… This could be because of a developing updraft in the thunderstorm. Gusty winds possible across northern Conecuh County over the next few minutes.

The Hangout music fest in Gulf Shores has really lucked out today in terms of not having much rain… I’m not sure that “luck” continues for long, however. Showers and storms continue to develop offshore and move north. Radar view as of 8:41PM…

The weather is a mess across Alabama tonight… Rain and storms continue for many as a frontal system has stalled out over the state. This will set the stage for several days of storms and heavy rain. Here’s a radar loop of the past few hours. The severe weather threat is LOW, but not zero. Stay “weather aware” in the next few hours!
