8:32PM: NOT OVER YET… 1) Storms are likely to fire up across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida in the coming hours, and a tornado watch will likely be required for our region a little later. If you’re going to sleep, have a way to receive urgent warnings in the overnight. If you’re not going to sleep, I’ll be on our live video stream during active tornado warnings. Grab some coffee or maybe some popcorn and join me as we endure another round of storms!

2) A tornado warning happened in northern Clarke County about an hour ago. We had live streaming coverage on our video feed at rzweather.com. Thanks to the folks that watched!!

3) Right now, several severe storms are in progress across central Alabama with one tornado warning for Walker County. Also, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Tuscaloosa and Northport at this hour.

4) A tornado watch continues for Clarke County and points north until 4AM. Troy, Camden, Thomasville, Montgomery, Birmingham, Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Anniston, Alex City, and Gadsden are all involved in this tornado watch.

MORE STORMS LATER… 1) The severe weather threat is NOT over. Severe storms that moved through this morning dropped quarter size hail and knocked down trees in Escambia and Covington counties in Alabama. Despite this…

2) Stronger storms are possible in the hours ahead across Alabama and northwest Florida. While the greatest tornado threat in our state will be north of I-59, I can’t rule out isolated tornadoes and damaging winds in the stronger storms that move across our state and region. A tornado watch has been posted for the northern two-thirds of Mississippi, and I wouldn’t be surprised if more tornado watches are required for Alabama in the hours ahead.

3) Heavy rain and flooding will likely be issues in the hours and days ahead as well. Radar estimates show approximately 2 inches of rain have already fallen across a narrow swath in our region where the thunderstorms moved through this morning.

4) Please continue to be “weather aware” in the hours ahead! Have a way to receive urgent weather warnings. I’ll be monitoring trends closely. Have a good evening!

11:04AM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for southern Conecuh, much of Escambia (AL), southern Monroe, and northern Baldwin counties until noon. Strong winds will be possible with this storm as it moves through. This is a storm very similar to the one that moved through a week ago today that caused tree damage across the region. Take this warning seriously! Move inside and certainly don’t be on the road… I’ll have a live video update on rzweather.com at ~11:20AM. Join me!

Tornado Watch is in effect for southwest Alabama and portions of northwest Florida until 2PM. Severe thunderstorm warnings are already in progress for a classic supercell thunderstorm moving east across the region. If we have tornado warnings issued for any part of our 10 county coverage area, be sure to join me at rzweather.com for our live streaming coverage. Please remember… All urgent watch/warning information is posted on my Twitter (@rzweather) but not on this Instagram account. Be “weather aware” today!
